Designed as a ranch-style country house, this one-story home that is 2,400 square feet overlooks rolling hills of countryside that borders the Columbia River in Northwest Oregon. With goals to optimize heat gain for winter and summer conditions, large overhangs along the long southern façade provide critical shading during the heat of the summer while optimizing passive solar gain during the cooler winter months.
